Scott is a Cleveland Institute of Art graduate, holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design and minors in Industrial and Graphic Design.  Scott was identified as the top graduate in his class and was awarded the Agnes Gund Foundation Traveling Scholarship.

In 1991, he joined Fitch, Inc. in Columbus, OH as a Designer in the company’s Consumer Environments team. While at Fitch, Scott was responsible for the design and development of a variety of branded retail environments, restaurants, exhibitions and entertainment venues.

In 1994, Scott founded Richardson Design, a firm that has established a global reputation for their design and creation of engaging brand experiences.  Richardson’s client roster is extensive and includes the likes of The Michael Symon Restaurant Group, Aramark Sports and Entertainment, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Lowe’s Corporation, Universal Studios, Forest City Development, and Stark Enterprises, among others.  The firm also works on select corporate office and residential commissions.

Many of Richardson’s projects have been recognized for excellence by organizations such as the International Interior Design Association and the Institute of Store Planners.  The firm’s work has been published in ID, VM&SD, Contract, Interior Design, Cleveland, and Northern Ohio Live Magazines as well as The Cleveland Plain Dealer and The New York Times.  Mr. Richardson was recognized for his furniture design work by Promosedia, an Italian furnishings manufacturer and participated in a European traveling exhibition of American furniture designers.

Scott held a visiting faculty appointment in the Interior Architecture Department at the Cleveland Institute of Art for 15 years and served as the President of the Board of Directors for SPACES, a non-profit art gallery from 2010-2012.  Scott is married and has 2 daughters and a dog.  He enjoys traveling, the arts, and cooking.
